Custom Woven Heirlooms
I make one-of-a-kind woven pieces as custom commissions. Each garment is created slowly, by hand, using fibre and dyes rooted in the place I live.
If you’re looking for an heirloom textile that carries story, material, and process, I’d love to work with you.
The Process
1. Initial Conversation
We start with a simple exchange about what you’re drawn to — the type of piece, how you want it to feel, and any details that matter to you. From there, I’ll suggest options and we’ll shape a design together.
2. Fibre & Materials
Most of the yarn I use comes from my own alpacas, raised and shorn here in Argenta. I hand-process the fleece from raw fibre into yarn. This is the longest part of the process, this is slow and meditative work.
If I don’t have the right shade or texture in my herd, I sometimes source alpaca fibre directly from other farmers in BC and Alberta.
Some clients also choose to include personal fibres, such as dog fur, as a tribute to a beloved animal. I’m happy to discuss this if it feels meaningful to you.
3. Natural Dye (Optional)
If colour is part of the piece, I dye fibre using plants I grow, forage, and harvest myself. Natural dye creates nuanced, living colour that can’t be replicated synthetically.
4. Weaving
Once materials are prepared, I weave the piece by hand on my floor loom.
5. Completion
When your textile is finished, it’s carefully packaged and sent to you, ready to be worn, held, and kept.
